For all you neanderthals still using Internet Explorer, you might want to check out Jason’s excellently informative post on Firefox. Before discovering Firefox, I felt like a lost lamb wandering through the Dark Ages of Internet Explorer. And then, behold, there was Firefox and all was good. I’ve seen the light. I was lost but now am found. Yadda yadda.

Maybe I exaggerated a little.

Ok, I exaggerated a lot.

I was having trouble with Internet Explorer before making the switch to Firefox a few years back, although I can’t for the life of me, recall what sort of trouble. I do remember it’s the sort that made me want to inflict grievous bodily harm on my computer and hurl it out the window (that’s right, Internet Explorer killed my kitty and ate my baby). Anyway, Internet Explorer is so 1990s. Who the hell wants to live in the last decade?

So the cool stuff about Firefox? Did you know you can have multiple home pages with Firefox? You did? Damn. I must not have been paying attention during the last couple of years I’ve been using it. I only found out when I read Jason’s post. Heh. Oh yeah, I must also give mad props to Greasemonkey and all the nifty scripts I can download with it. Customisation, it’s what’s for dinner.

Now if only Firefox cooks and cleans too, I’ll be all set.

One awesome graphic viewer software that I feel not enough people know about is IrfanView (ya, I know it’s one of the most popular viewers but the folks I hang around with don’t seem to know about it *shrugs*). For days when I don’t really need to open the very bloated Photoshop software for heavy duty tweaking, I’ll use the IrfanView software for cropping, resizing, batch conversion or renaming, or other simple graphic editing stuff. Best of all, this software is FREE.

Screenshot of the software:

I’ve been using the Sony Ericsson K800i for a couple of months and I love it. I’ve never been big on using some software to back up my phone data but it seems like a good idea to do so. The PC Suite software that came with the phone was a pain in the ass to use so I hunted around on the big, wide intarweb for a more user friendly software. I found MyPhoneExplorer. Man, I simply love it. It’s so easy to install compared to the Sony Ericsson software which many of my friends encountered installation problems with. It even backs up your text messages (SMS)! If you’re a Sony Ericsson user looking for a software to manage your phone, do try this. It supports all Sony Ericsson phones except for the symbian-based models.

Software Features (taken from FJ Software Development)
• Addressbook – with direct sync to Outlook, Outlook Express and Thunderbird
• Organizer with calendarview and direct sync to Outlook, Sunbird (up to Version 0.2), Rainlendar and net shared calendars (WebDAV, FTP)
• SMS – archive, export, import, excessive messages,…
• Filebrowser with cachesystem to minimize datatransfer…
• Set phoneclock based on atomtime
• Handle your calls via PC
• and much more. f.e.: calllists, edit profiles, phonemonitor,..
